![]() ![]() ![]() Job description for our Summer Intern is 1) to assist CAI Youth Program Director to coordinate and conduct an 8-week summer camp with about 25 children and youth aged between 5 and 13, and 2) to coordinate a new program for teens aged 13-16 from the mid-June to the mid-August. Thus, each summer intern will plan and implement activities pertaining to seven to eight different countries/cultures and camp participants will have opportunities to learn 30 or more countries/cultures during the summer. ![]() Every week, each summer intern is responsible for creating a week-long (about 1-1.5 hours/day) activity plan focusing on one culture or country for six to eight summer camp participants. The Passport to the World introduces camp participants to different countries and cultures across the globe through their participation in experiential activities, such as learning history, language, crafts, music, dance, cooking, and others. The Health and Culture Summer Camp at CAI incorporates two culture and arts activities: Passport to the World, Cambodian music, and storytelling. These three areas are incorporated into the summer camp and into the youth summer internship program. CAI’s Children and Youth Programs focus on three major areas: academic support arts, culture, and enrichment and health and wellness. Service learning: Service learning opportunities related to teens’ career interests and STEM opportunities, as well as summer enrichment programs. Annual Portfolio Night: Teens annually present samples of their work to parents and peers with focus on STEM research and experiments. Parent involvement: One-on-one and group parent meetings to address their child's academic and financial preparation for college, including FAFSA workshops in Spanish. College prep: Minimum three college tours each year with students actively engaged in planning process. Current program activities include: -STEM-related projects: Regular enrichment opportunities, need-based tutoring, experiments, and activities regarding STEM subjects, careers and colleges, including ongoing robotics competitions, a podcast production and digital literacy. BL serves 40 students annually through innovative STEM-based learning-offering project-based learning, enrichment opportunities and guest speakers to help students focus on the higher math and science preparation that they need to excel in rigorous university programs. ![]() Due to Covid protocols, a hybrid of virtual and live classroom environment may be offered.īuilding Leaders helps students build academic and social-emotional skills to create a direct path to high school graduation and college admission. NOTE: All applicants are required to submit a short essay on their interest in Astronomy and why they would like to be part of this very popular program prior to interview. By the end of the program, you will be prepared to share and present your gained Astronomical knowledge to the ASM community. As a member of our Astro crew, you will learn how to identify celestial objects/navigate the skies, use telescopes and participate in joint observation sessions while working in teams. You will explore Crewed Missions from the early NASA Mercury program to the current SpaceX flights and investigate what it is to be an astronaut. By the end of the course, students will be able to tackle the following digital imaging situations with confidence, efficiency, and creativity.Are you interested in exploring the cosmos with other teens who share the same wonder of all things space? Our “Space & Astronomy” program at ASM will indulge in all aspects from exploring Planets, planning Mars colonies to Cosmology and the beginnings of the Universe and of course, the search for alien life. Through continued practice and usage, students eventually move on to creating their own original artworks by utilizing their new skills with their own images. Beginning with simple, easy to follow video tutorials and supplied images, students immediately find themselves engaged in the course, creating composite images while becoming familiar with the tools. Taught by photographer/visual arts teacher Scott Wittenburg, Photoshop 101 is a course specifically designed for those students with little or no experience in Adobe Photoshop who wish to become proficient in the program in a relatively short time. ![]()
